Abstract

Present communication deals with the new record of Argiope aemula, the St. Andrew’s Oval Cross Spider, from Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh with its systematic account, distribution, habitat, webbing, food & feeding, mating & cannibalism, venom and predation threats. It, as subsisting on various insects including plant insect pests, is considered a potential biological controller, especially in rice crop fields.
