Abstract

The study was conducted to isolate and identify heterotrophic sulfur oxidizing bacteria isolated in the mangrove along to Haiphong - Quangninh coastal. Results showed that out of 15 isolated bacterial strains, 9 of them can reduce the pH of the environment compared to the initial pH 8.0. They also can produce sulfate ion in broth medium with thiosulfate substrate. Based on the phenotypic and molecular characteristics, they are placed into Bacillus cereus, B. anthracis, Bacillus spp. SO2, Bacillus spp. SO4, Bacillus spp. SO5, Bacillus spp. SO8, Pseudomonas plecoglossicida SO7, Micrococcus spp. SO9 and Klesiella spp. SO6.
