Land use and Land cover (LU/LC) is a result of socio-economic factors, natural factors and their utilization by human being. From multiple researches, it is clear that accurately monitoring of LU/LC changes is important to understand the interactions and bond between natural phenomena and mankind. The combine use of Remote Sensing (RS) with Geographic Information System (GIS) have proved as an important tool which can provide accurate data and information on LU/LC changes. Use of multi-spectral satellite imageries have significant role to classify LU/LC and detect changes because it provides time to time information about where and what changes have occurred and its impact on environment and humans. Several methods are available which can be used for LU/LC classification and change detection. All methods have their own pros and cons but not a single method is optimum. Several National and International studies on LU/LC change analysis using remote sensing and GIS have been carried out
