Abstract

Pulses are good source of protein for vegetarians and also even cheap. Pulses are rich in lysine. However, pigeon pea in pulses generally difficult to mill therefore different pretreatment was adopted to acquire maximum dehulling recovery. Soybean oil-based pretreatment with different concentration of 1%, 1.5%, 2%, 2.5%, and 3%is adopted for research purpose. It was observed that increase in oil concentration reduced the milling efficiency, reduced the hulling recovery, increase broken percentage, reduced the dal recovery. Maximum milling recovery obtained at 2%.
