Abstract

The present research was carried out on in vitro mass multiplication, Larval feeding capacity on cowpea aphid, Aphis craccivora in laboratory condition (65 ± 5 per cent R.H. and 25±2°C) at Rajasthan college of agriculture, Udaipur (Rajasthan). A study of the biology of the lady bird beetle indicated a significant variation in incubation period, grub, pupal period and adult longevity. Likewise, the fecundity, pre-oviposition, oviposition and post oviposition also varied considerably. However the mean incubation period was 3.4±0.37, grub period, 13.82±0.76, pupal period, 6.9±0.54 and the adult longevity was 38.95±4.92 for males and 48.8±3.96 for females. Fecundity, pre oviposition, oviposition and post oviposition period were observed 259.8±19.67 eggs/female, 4.2±1.32, 37.7±6.88 and 4.1±1.29 days, respectively.
